“Meet Jesus…” Bible Study Series

“Meet Jesus…”

as we relate what the Bible says to our everyday lives in a natural, engaging, and empowering way. “Come & See” just as you are.

Jesus is the most attractive man to ever walk this earth. He has impacted this world more than any man who ever lived. Part of any broad education is discovering what such an important person has done and has said. Each of these is within the reach of those without any previous Bible knowledge.

Meet JESUS…in God’s BIG-Story (5 Weeks)

This five week study takes a BIG-picture view of God’s plan. We will focus together on key chapters that move the story on from beginning to end to gain perspective on God’s heart.

Meet JESUS…on the Way (5 Weeks)

This five week study helps you look at five different interactions Jesus had with people. We can tell a lot about a person by how they treat others. And Jesus’ responses will stir within a desire to follow Him.

Meet JESUS…in His Teaching (5 Weeks)

This five week study helps you look at five different teachings Jesus gave. What someone teaches gives insight into who they are, especially if his or her life aligns with the teaching, as Jesus’ life does.

I normally print these front/back (standard US size, 8″ X 11″). The  applicable chapter is on one side and the text on the back. This makes it easier for first-time people, or if some forget to bring their sheet. Also, one sheet is so simple, it does not overwhelm anyone. However, you may also print this out in a “booklet” format if that fits your purposes. Then the applicable sheets are on facing pages (print front/back and staple).

And such a style of learning can actually be fun!

Our aim is to remove the artificial barriers people may have erected against looking together into the Bible. This is a welcoming, embracing, anyone-can-come group, whether casual observer or active participant. Each participant sets their level of involvement. Bring your inquisitive thinking so we can learn together in a “soil” or learning environment conducive to change.

The Bible is accessible for anyone with a desire to know what this popular book has to say, whether curiously exploring Christianity or young in their walk with Christ. None are excluded.

The word “disciple” in the New Testament actually means “learner.” In a group setting, each person experiences space to discover the truth in God’s Word for themselves. This breaks off previous limitations to understanding the Bible secondhand, only hearing what others believe. Such self-discovered truth stays with the person longer. It’s personal and owned.

The “Meet Jesus…” series uses an application of the widespread “Discovery Bible Study” method (DBS), modified a bit. DBS has been used to birth a multitude of Christian communities around the world.

Each week, we look together into a passage from the Bible as if you and I were personally there. We look through their eyes, walk in their sandals and imaginatively experience first-hand what these people may have at the time. This “whole-person” approach involves our inquisitive minds and our enlivened affections/emotions triggered by our sanctified imagination so we activate our will.

“Whole person” learning releases flourishing LifeChange. Such “quick hit” engagement with God’s Love-Letter begins this lifelong process of healthy change. And if we pass along one idea to a friend (Philemon 6), this further ratchets up learning in our lives.

“I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ” (Philemon 6).

The “Meet Jesus…”  series focuses on the essential, growth-rich ABC’s of value/worth interwoven throughout Scripture. Such a life is worthy of investing my all into. Now as we spend regular time in Scripture, each year becomes fifty-two weekly opportunities for LifeChange.

  • Acceptance: our sins have been fully and forever forgiven through faith in Christ. No barriers any longer block our full acceptance by God.
  • Belonging: our caring Father opens His arms wide and ushers us into His Forever Family through faith in Christ. We now belong, and first experience His presence through His practical, everyday care.
  • Competence: on account of His Son, Jesus Christ, He makes us competent to partner with Him on His epic adventure of faith.

“God has not hidden truth from us, but for us to increase our delight in Him.” Ask any miner the effort needed to mine for silver or gold. Also ask if the return from the mother-lode is worth the effort. And God’s Word is the mother-lode of truth.

“If you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand…” (Proverbs 2:4).

“If you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand…” (Proverbs 2:4).
